Cross Bar Quarter Horse Stud is located approximately 34km northwest of Rockhampton. Rockhampton is known to be the Beef Capital of Australia and is situated in Central Queensland. Being centrally located, we have the opportunity to access major quarter horse sales such as the Rockhampton annual quarter horse sale, which is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. We happily invite enquiries and private sales.
Rockhampton and Central Queensland host some of the major horse events in Australia, which include the Rocky Rush (Challenge), Paradise Lagoon Campdraft and major Cutting, Trail, Western Pleasure and Halter events.
We are excited about the Stud’s purchase of Lil Hickory Badger (IMP) whose progeny has won several major events including the Non Pro Futurity and the Non Pro Derby Championships. As well, Lil Hickory Badger (IMP) has produced progeny that has AQHA Western Pleasure Points and AQHA Halter Points.
Lil Hickory Badger (IMP), an Australian National Cutting Horse Association money earner, has been under rated as a sire. We expect that his future progeny will continue to have a major impact on Australian titles. The progeny of his sire, Doc’s Hickory, has already had an impact on the United States Quarter Horse industry earning in excess of US$18m. Lil Hickory Badger’s Dam is by Doc O’lena, a legend in the Quarter Horse world. His full sister has a Certificate of Ability and is a United States National Cutting Horse Association money earner, and Lil Hickory Badger is half brother to five other NCHA (USA) money earners.
The stud also stands Rocket Wood Return who is the Junior sire. He is the progeny of Rocket Return who was the 1980 Futurity Champion and 1981 Derby Champion. Rocket Wood Return reached the finals of two major Challenge events before retiring to stud. His eldest progeny is now rising two years old.
Cross Bar Quarter Horse Stud broodmares consist of well performed old blood lines. These mares have a good depth of breeding, which will cross well with our stallions and produce foals with versatility, good temperament and sound conformation.
Cross Bar Quarter Horse Stud is owned and run by the Creevey Family, Neville and Liza Creevey being the Principle Owners and Breeding Managers. Neville Jnr (Diploma in Applied Science in Beef and Crop Production) is a Farm Manager and his wife Melanie (Certificate III in Horse Breeding and Management) is Sales and Show Manager.
